Have you read this zombie book series yet?
Whenever time allows, I love to read. Deployed overseas, books (physical or digital) kept me sane. As an avid movie watcher, you already know that most movies are spawned from some great, and not so great novels, comics as well. The written works are so much meatier with detail and allow your imagination to run wild, whereas movies essentially show you what to think. I'm sure you've already read great books or know someone that has told you just how great a book was that it should be a movie. If you love zombie and apocalypse type settings, this is one of those moments. The ones I’m about to tell you are older and perhaps you’ve heard of them. That's right, there's more than one; in fact, four (4) stories/ books in total for this pretty neat tetralogy. This is one of those that I started reading and finished while deployed. Speaking of the apocalypse, if you need some great tasting coffee to sip on while you enjoy this sweet collection, pick up our Headshot Medium Blend.
It’s been a few years since I’ve read them, and my memory isn’t the greatest, but I will try to give you my feedback and why I believe it’s a great read. You could obviously read the description online, so that’s not really what’s important and I certainly wouldn’t want to just re-write what’s on the back of the books. First, it’s tetralogy. So just like any good movie you’ve watched and couldn’t wait for the sequel, this has it. If the first one hooks you, like it did me there’s three more books. The first book is entitled “Feed”, and this is the first in the Newsflesh series. The second is “Deadline”, third is “Blackout” and the final installment is titled “Feedback”. The book centers around bloggers and their search surrounding the conspiracy and obviously finding the truth of the world changing events. The final book maintains the integrity of the others but is taken from different journalists and other participants in the “blog game”. Feedback runs in the same timeframe as Feed. However, just like journalism has two sides to the story, this one sees it from the side of a liberal democratic party. There is also the introduction of gender fluid, pronouns, and LGBTQIA+.. Hopefully this is the right designation so as not to offend anyone.
Overall, it gets a bit political, but what do you expect when the story is told from the narrative of journalist. They are all a fun read, and I could see the first one, if not all in the series becoming a movie or movies in the future. There’s plenty of gore and the good writing with good character development puts you right in the story. Anyway, I’m a fan of these books, written by Mira Grant. If you’re looking for a great story to read while deployed overseas or have some “killer” time on your hands, check out the “Newsflesh” series here. Disclaimer: This page contains affiliate links.
